What Affects the Cost of Concrete and Aggregate Sealing
Like pavers, sealing concrete is mostly about prep. A clean, dry, open surface is what makes sealer last.
Surface type
Exposed aggregate and stamped concrete have more texture and usually take more sealer than a smooth slab.
Existing sealer
Old sealer that's peeling or whitened may need to be stripped before a new coat will bond.
Freeze-thaw protection
The Portland Cement Association notes sealers reduce water absorption, which helps against freeze-thaw scaling in winters like Middle Tennessee's.
